THE NATIONAL Ad-Hoc COMMITTEE on GROUNDWATER
Raison d’être

Recommended by the participants to the 1st National Workshop in Groundwater
in June 2000

To foster groundwater studies at the national
level
-
As a first step, a national Ad-Hoc committee has been formed on a temporary
basis- from May to September 2001
AD-Hoc Committee objectives
-
Coordinate development of the first draft of a Canadian groundwater framework
-
Promote the framework to interested federal and provincial departments and
other stakeholders
Origin and schedule
-
Drawn from the provinces and territories, academia, and the private sector
(one representative from each)

The national Ad-Hoc committee is formed on a temporary basis
-
The Ad-Hoc committee will organize the 2nd National Workshop on Groudnwater
in September 2001
-
The national Ad-Hoc committee will be dissolved in September 2001
-
The national Ad-hoc committee will be replaced by a permanent comittee
that will be outlined in the framework upon approval of the latter
in September 2001, during the 2nd National Workshop on GW
Operations
-
The expenses for operating the national AD-Hoc committee will be covered
by the Geological Survey of Canada
-
The committee will communicate via teleconferences about once every two
weeks from May to September 2001, and will meet face-to-face once.

Each member of the ad-hoc national committee will liaise with his/her stakeholder
groups of interest, be they federal or provincial/territorial government
departments, universities or industry

The committee will generate an E-mail list of interested people to be informed
of very meeting/action taken by the committee
-
Provision of secretarial support to the committee will be the responsibility
of the Geological Survey of Canada
